Move the Square!

Today’s class tired me up a bit though not really that much since I also enjoyed my kids this morning. Imagine me playing with them in the game of ‘Move the Square’. Here is how to do it in your class. First you need to split them into groups maybe in four or more if you have a bigger class. Then, you need to set up the room, a bigger activity room would add up the thrill. You need four chairs for two teams as they have to transfer or move the [whatever target vocab you are teaching]. Next, you have to choose one smart student if you also want to play in either teams. Hahah which makes them go crazy over it because they think it’s so challenging to compete with their teacher. Well, so then you would somehow be the first to give them a sample and then later on they can be the teacher and then you can enjoy in the game. You only have to shout – ‘Move the [whatever vocab]‘ provided that both teams got equal number of items on their chairs and all they got to do is stay at the center of those chairs and listen to your instructions. After you shout out the phrase they can now pick the square [small laminated flashcards are durable and you can use it for long time] and move it to the other chair. You could just imagine them tired after playing this game. Hahah. There is one more trick though: you got to shout it faster and then they would go crazy looking for the right flashcard. Grins. The first one who put the flashcard on the chair and shout the word will earn points for their team. Indeed this is the best way to make your students tired at the same time speak for those who are very shy to speak in class. Smiles. Surely, my kids love this game. I hope you could try this one too. Lemme know how it goes. Smiles.

True Friend – A Personal Definition

True friends are hard to find. Indeed, they are considered as one of the most precious jewels in a person’s life. True as its nature is as white as snow and as diamonds are forever. Personally, I consider a friend TRUE when that individual has been with me for a long time and indeed we have known each other that much like we are more than a family. Yes, I can relatively compare TRUE friends as one of my family since I know deep within that when everything would turn out to be as mad as hell in my life, I would always have my family’s support and love. Assuredly, I think that almost if not all families are like that. If there are exceptions, maybe only a few. Oh well, TRUE friend or friends are rare and I am very proud to say that I have found some along in my journey to life. I am so blessed to rub my elbows with them in this crazy world. Though they are very far from me now, still, advanced technology is helping us connect with each other. Thanks a lot to that. Smiles. I could count my true friends by my fingers. They are so dear to me that I always seek advice from them when it comes to almost all of my important life decisions. They are like my mother and like my mother, I always put my trust in them and I believe and respect their ideas. Smiles.

Whew Terrific!

Today’s chores tire me up so quickly to the point that I waited for the sundown to finish everything. I took a bath half an hour ago and now I’m feeling refreshed. Whew! I had my general cleaning today and I liked it so much every time for I feel so clean and the house is so dainty. There was a funny thing that happened. I was cleaning the windows of my room and I wasn’t sure it dripped all the way down to the first floor. I am living on the seventh – the last floor actually and a few minutes later on when I was done brushing and scraping all the dirt, my intercom rang and somebody spoke in another language so I said sorry wrong number. I thought it was just a prank or something so I didn’t care until somebody knocked my door and spoke to me like she is going to eat me. Whew! I couldn’t imagine myself how terrified I was. All I said was I’m sorry while the other lady was speaking to me in English. The other old woman was just staring strangely at me. Well, all I did was just apologize and I meant what I said. They somehow understood me. Grins.

Another Awesome Day – AAD :)

Today is another great day here with my housemate and Kevin our technical staff at school. Together we went to buy some gadgets in downtown and Anelie bought a good radio CD player for herself. When we got home I immediately turned on my laptop and chatted with mamabear who is my close friend in Malolos, Bulacan. Back there at the shop, I told her that I saw many good gadgets and in fact I saw a cheap iPod. Then she excitedly told me that’s what she want for Xmas, hahah. We chatted for almost an hour when I got an email from a friend too who really likes to come here and teach ESL. I immediately wrote to her and bid goodbye to mamabear.

Sometimes, it just takes us a click to smile and be happy. Most likely, friends count most on those times when a family or a best friend is far too accessible to communicate. :) Just like today, I realized the importance of having many good friends. Thanks for dropping by here pal. :)

A Sense of Fulfilment

I thought today would be another hell day with my classes. However, contrary to what I thought upon waking up this morning, I had a fantastic discussion with my high flyers and trailblazers today. Whew! :) Upon dismissal, one parent just came up to me and said in Chinese so many thank yous for making her son love to learn English. I could really feel her heartfelt thanks and that made my day today. After all, a simple and heartfelt thank you is what matters most. It could really uplift a weary and tired soul. :)

A Heartfelt Thanks from a Sincere Mother

This afternoon was really great for me as I had a fantastic discussion with my high flyer and trailblazer students. I had a parent came in to my class and said her warmest thanks for a great job in teaching her son English. She really came up to me and just said those words as she has a limited English language proficiency. Indeed she made my day brighter and my memories in RuiAn wonderful. I won’t forget her wherever I go even when I go back home.

A Three-day Trip in Shanghai with my housemate

at-the-bundat-the-bund-shanghai-tower-at-the-back1Last May 1, 2008, I and my housemate went to Shanghai for a short trip since we got a quite long holiday this month. Excitedly, we packed our things and off we went to our first trip ever. We immediately thought of Shanghai for it’s quite near our place and we only have to take the sleeper bus going there. These snaps were taken on our first day in Shanghai. We really didn’t feel tiredness as we walked around the hubbub of the city centre. Shanghai is really a beautiful place to visit. If ever I get another chance to visit here again, I won’t think twice. :)

I Need Enough Beauty Rest

There are tons of things to do now but my eyes are drooping everytime I put my fingers on the keyboard. I have been missing my updates since I left home last Tuesday night and here I am now sleepy and tired from my five days of walking and sightseeing in two cities – Shanghai and Hangzhou. I really enjoyed my two days stay in Shanghai and Hangzhou respectively. We went home just last night and that’s the main reason why I am still tired by now.

We did many things in Hangzhou and it’s the city which impressed me most and brought me closer to Mother Nature. There are so many things to do there and if only we had much more time then we could have toured around the most calm and alluring West Lake for another day or two. Anyway, there is always tomorrow and soon I am sure to go back there and enjoy myself. I like to be at peace with nature and walk around the most famous West Lake in Hangzhou City. Really, I couldn’t stay longer now, perhaps these pictures would tell you the rest of my story. Smiles.

Splendid Shanghai Botanical Garden

On the second day of my stay in Shanghai, I and my housemate went to a lovely botanical garden. For me, it was the most wonderful place I’ve ever been to. I saw many flowers of different kinds. I can’t name them all here for all I know is ROSE. Grins. That botanical garden is just so beautiful in fact when we went there was a show – Flower Show: Shanghai in the Shanghai Botanical Garden. I was really amazed and fascinated with its different flower varieties. My eyes were so busy looking here and there at the lovely flowers. When we went further inside a garden, we felt the scent of the flowers under us and there strike a pose while others were also very busy taking pictures of their own families and lovers.

There on the inner circle of the botanical garden, we saw a couple of newly weds striking a pose for their wedding pictures. It was so heavenly and I started to dream of myself wearing those gowns with my man. Grins. When would it be? Well, stop that weird imagination. Anelie patted me and off we went to the other side of the garden where convoluted landscapes greeted us with awe. There we posed again and again this time we asked other friendly people to do us a little favor. I really enjoyed there and I cannot get enough of it that until at this point I’m still imagining how splendid that place is. Though the place is sooo massive we didn’t feel our bodies getting tired because of its awe-inspiring and exquisite flower landscapes with its numerous kinds of flora.

We never had enough of the place until we saw the sun settling down and we looked at our watch it was already five in the afternoon. Whew! We only said, surely we are going to come back here soon. And, that’s a deal! After such a short day as we said that we haven’t toured all over the place with our almost six hours of strolling the blissful place. Surely, surely, surely, we are going there soon. Smiles.
